The Deity of Jesus Christ
Satan has a ferocious hatred of Jesus Christ. And predictably, he will and has done all in his power to muddy his name and his purpose. He is behind all the false doctrines, and of course notably against Jesus. Let’s take a look at some of them.
Here’s what the Scriptures say about the deity of Christ:
A Child Is God
From way back in the beginning the deity of Jesus was established in the Old Testament:
“For unto us a CHILD is born,
unto us a Son is given;
and the government will be upon his shoulder.
Wonderful, Counselor, MIGHTY GOD,
ETERNAL FATHER, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6
In this passage in the Old Testament the Scripture is presenting a child being born, a child who is “the mighty God,” and “the eternal Father.”
The Mystery of Godliness
The New Testament:
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
GOD WAS MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH,
justified in the Spirit, seen by angels,
preached among the Gentiles,
believed on in the world, received up in glory.”
1st Timothy 3:15-16
What did the apostles say about Jesus?
When Jesus Christ asked Peter, one of his followers, to define what he believes about Christ, Peter answered:
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:16
Thomas doubted the resurrection of Christ, but Jesus appeared to him and showed him the scars in his hands. Then Thomas said:
“And Thomas answered and said to him,
‘my Lord and my GOD!’”
John 20:28
